Store your jewellery in an air tight container.

Oxygen is what makes sterling silver tarnish. So when you're not wearing your jewellery put it in your jewellery box. Or you can even use a small ziplock bag. One from a grocery store is fine, or The Container Store has small bags in heavy plastic that are the perfect size for jewellery. To prevent tangling, store one necklace in one ziplock bag. Leave the clasp sticking out a bit from the zipper. That way the chain won't tangle.

Put Jewellery On After Applying Makeup

Cosmetics, hairspray, perfumes and lotion can contain chemicals that can often damage jewellery. Putting jewellery on after applying these materials will limit exposure to jewellery and any potential damage.

Prevent Your Jewellery from Tarnishing

Sometimes jewellery tarnishes went it's not worn, especially silver and gold. To maintain the lustre of your jewellery, place silver anti-tarnish strips in your storage container to absorb the oxidants that discolor and tarnish jewellery.
