Katan Silk Suit
Katan suit is the most famous silk Suit from Banaras, known for its softness and shine. It is woven using pure creme silk in both warp and weft. Technically, it is a two-ply twisted yarn of creme silk with 28-32 twists per inch (TPI). technique involves hand-weaving each motif separately. It takes longer on the handloom, but makes a more booti pattern, which stands out on the fabric. Meenakari involves the painstaking addition of supplementary colored zari work during the hand-weaving process.
