Technique -
Katan Silk Suit
Katan suit is the most famous silk Suit from Banaras, known for its softness and shine. It is woven using pure orange/dark peach silk in both warp and weft. Technically, it is a two-ply twisted yarn of maroon silk with 28-32 twists per inch (TPI). technique involves hand-weaving each motif separately. It takes longer on the handloom, but makes a more booti pattern, which stands out on the fabric. zari involves the painstaking addition of supplementary zari work during the hand-weaving process.
