What Are Essential Oils, and Do They Work?

Most of you don’t know about Essential oils. Questions like: what are essential oils? How do essential oil works? How to use Essential oils? Which Essential oil should I use??

If you like the blog please do share. First, let me share my experience.

After crossing the age where when I started making my own decisions and my parents standing by them, I was always told that do everything but don’t take stress, {do everything but} take care of health, {do everything but} take care of beauty. At first, I use to think that why my parents have to mention this every time I visit them, knowing that even I know that this is basic of living; eat, sleep, laugh & repeat, repeat and repeat.

I went home, called my mom. I was sad and heartbroken. However, I would like to share with all of you what she said something. She said, “our body is the temple of our soul, how we treat our body reflects how we are from within”. It was such a small thing but it hit me like a thousand tornado as I realized I am abusing my body.

That realization took me to a 15 days holiday trip to Kerala where I stayed at a therapeutic center and went through all types of Aromatherapy treatment they can offer and I could see the difference in me both internally and externally. But the problem was the same, I had to come back and again have to follow the routine of long working hours, pollution, work stress, lack of sleep, cosmetics and much more. I did not want to get back after having such a divine experience.

So, I asked my hotel manager to help me. He, another gentle soul, arranged a meeting with the therapeutic center doctor and she suggested me to use “Essential oils”. She said, if you use essential oil, you don’t need any doctor for anything. Of course, I was not going to do that since I was raised learning that for every problem, visit doctor, but that nagging thought that I should at least give it a try, what worse can happen? Only that I’ll end up losing some money, ended me buying my first set of essential oil (Rose, Sandalwood, lemon, Neroli , and Tea tree). And after using them for the last 3 years, I decided to share it with you all.

What Are Essential Oils?

What are essential oils? Essential oils are the essence of a plant, a gift of nature, extracted and prepared for you to bring the power of nature into your life.

Inside many plants and flowers —hidden in roots, seeds, flowers, bark—are concentrated, highly potent chemical compounds. These natural compounds are essential oils.

Essential oils give a plant its scent, protect it from hazardous environmental conditions. It even assists with pollination, among other important functions and benefits.

How Do Essential Oils Work?

When you open a bottle of pure, organic, unadulterated essential oil, your senses started to work more vigorously because the potent aroma can be smelled, even from a distance. What your nose detects are the naturally occurring elements of the essential oil.

Every essential oil varies in its natural nature, so aromas and benefits are also unique. For example, Rosemary oil includes elements that make it effective for soothing high stress, help you focus, remove blackheads and whiteheads, and promoting a restful environment for sleep.

Meanwhile, when taken internally, Frankincense oil supports immune, nervous, and digestive systems, and aids in healthy cellular function.

Here's a list of 10 popular essential oils and the health claims associated with them:

  • Peppermint: used to boost energy and aid digestion

These unnatural products can weigh us down, give long damage to our skin without realising and even negatively influence the way we think, feel, and live. By the time we realise it, the damage is done.

Each with a unique chemical composition, essential oils have dozens of benefits for the body and mind. Essential oil benefits are determined by the chemistry of the plants.
